Reorganization of Northern Fleet

Reorganization of Northern Fleet 12.02.2010
On Feb 10, 2010 in Northern Fleet naval base Zaozersk took place a transfer ceremony of historical flag and Order of Red Banner from NF nuclear submarine squadron to new division – Northern Fleet Red Banner Submarine Force.

Among high-ranking attendants were Vice Admiral Vladimir Korolev, Chief of Northern Fleet HQ and Rear Admiral Andrei Volozhinsky, NF Submarine Force Commander who took over the flag from Capt 1 rank Sergei Lastochkin, acting commander of NF nuclear submarine squadron.

New division – NF Submarine Force – comprises all units of nuclear-powered submarines based at Northern Fleet. The purpose of such reorganization is to enhance the quality of training tasks, increase efficiency and control mobility of submarine force at sea, and keep it in constant alert.

Reconstructed submarine force has inherited honorable title of Red Banner along with Order of Red Banner given to 1st Nuclear Submarine Flotilla on Feb 22, 1968 for great contribution to strengthening of national defense power and armed protection of the state.
