Ukrainian corvette Ternopil sailed off Greek naval base Souda Bay on Nov 21 and continues to patrol assigned zone in the Mediterranean Sea.

Task group consisting of the Ukrainian corvette and Italian frigate Espero have effectively controlled commercial shipping in the operational zone and escorted civil vessels through potentially hazardous regions.

The corvette's operational officers interrogated 46 vessels during the first patrol. In addition, the ship's crew held drills on damage control, antiaircraft defense, repelling attack of small fast-speed craft, and trailing a "submarine".

While brief stay at the Greek naval base, Ukrainian corvette replenished fuel and freshwater resources.

Presumably, Ternopil will be on station for about a week.

As was previously reported, corvette Ternopil sailed off Sevastopol heading for the Mediterranean Sea on Nov 7. The ship started first patrol within a task force on Nov 14.

Totally, the Mediterranean cruise of Ternopil is expected to last about 45 days.
