03.06.2011
A vessel with two Ukrainian sailors on board was successfully released from pirate captivity by a French warship.
According to Ukrainian foreign ministry, pirates attacked MV Atlas on May 31 in the Arabian Sea. There were 20 sailors on board including two Ukrainians. When pirates boarded the ship, the crew managed to block themselves in a "citadel" and transmit distress signal to anti-piracy coalition.
A French warship was dispatched to the incident site; after a while, the merchant vessel was released. Reportedly, nobody suffered on board MV Atlas. The ship moves along the route.
