Iran Holds Naval Exercise near Strait of Hormuz
06.02.2012
Iran's Revolutionary Guard on Feb 4 kicked off naval maneuvers near the Strait of Hormuz which is the key oil traffic route in the Persian Gulf.
So far, Iran has not tried to block the strait which is the transit route for one fifth of world's oil shipment. The US and allies said they would rapidly react on any attempts of blockade.
Last month, Iranian Navy held the 10-day exercise in the Persian Gulf. Revolutionary Guard directly subordinated to supreme leader Ayatollah Khamenei is a powerful military organization controlling key programs including missile developments.
