Ukrainian crewed Santana sent to bottom Greek vessel Captain Mihalis

The Malta-flagged vessel Santana collided with Greek vessel Captain Mihalis in Aegean Sea yesterday morning, on Oct 5.

There were 20 crewmembers aboard Santana, all are Ukrainians; Captain Mihalis had 9 men crew.

According to Ukrainian MFA press service, vessel Captain Mihalis sank in consequence of collision, one crewmember died. At the same time vessel Santana headed for port Siros under its own power being escorted by coast guard boat. Greek competent authorities conduct an investigation based on the accident.

According to preliminary data, none of Ukrainian sailors from Santana vessel harmed in the wreckage.

The case is under control of Ukrainian embassy in Greece and Ukrainian MFA.
