The information of the contract between German government and ARGE F125 on development new frigates appeared in 2007. It was said that the syndicate members industrial group Thyssen-Krupp and shipbuilding company Lurssen would complete construction works in 2013-2017.

New frigates with displacement of 6 800 tonnes will be capable to accelerate up to 27 knots (50 kph approx). Cruising range will make about 4 000 marine miles (7 400 km). The ships will be capable to sail independently up to 2 years replenishing supplies on route and shifting crews once in 4-6 months.
