France to improve sub navigationals

13.11.2009
French company Safran (former Sagem) which produces cell phones, comm systems, military and car electronics got a delivery order from French Navy on navigation systems Sigma 40XP.

Navigational Sigma 40XP is equipped with a system of laser gyroscopes and a special noise-reduce technology allowing operation even under influence of powerful electromagnetic fields. Sigma 40XP is designed for latest-generation subs, although may be used as upgrade for obsolete submarines.

Safran was established in 2005 as a result of integration Snecma and Sagem. It includes three independent branches: Communications, Defense and Automotive. Defense branch is specialized in producing electronics and comm systems for the military, including navigation systems and individual equipment.
