Two cargo ships collided in Sea of Azov on Wednesday, one of them sank but nobody suffered, said Anna Korytova, head of Southern branch of Transport procuracy to RIA Novosti.

The ship collision occurred at 08.00 am Moscow time near Yeisk, Krasnodar region.

"According to the current information, there was a shipwreck of two cargo vessels Santa-Victoria and Beryl; as a result, Beryl sank. Nobody suffered", she said.

Causes of accident and its full picture are being investigated.

Krasnodar Transport Procuracy is verifying execution of marine transport security laws, added Korytova.

Crewmembers of sunken vessel Beryl were removed from the ship and are currently at Santa-Victoria cargo vessel, said representative of Yeisk port administration to RIA Novosti. The interviewee did not mention number of saved sailors.

"There are neither victims and sufferers nor environmental pollution; nothing endangers ecology", assured representative of the seaport.

According to preliminary data, sunken vessel Beryl was flying a Sierra Leone flag and Santa-Victoria is the Comoros-flagged ship, said spokesman of Black Sea and Azov branch of FSB Coast Guard Department to RIA Novosti.

"Crewmembers of sunken vessel are on board Santa-Victoria, there is no danger to their lives. They refused an assistance of Russia", said the interviewee.

According to him, coast guard ship Khanty-Mansiysk is heading for the accident site. It is expected to reach the place at 01.00 pm Moscow time.

"The ship will check the situation and explore accident area whether there are signs of marine pollution or not", said FSB spokesman.
