Pirates captured Indian cargo ship in the Gulf of Aden 26.02.2010
Somali pirates hijacked Indian dry cargo ship Abdul Razak with nine crewmen on board, reports AFP. Precise date of capture is uncertain so far; assault happened at the Gulf of Aden.

The vessel was sailing from Indian port Kandla to Dubai. Yet there is no information of the cargo; status of captured crewmembers is unknown either. According to website australia.to, the vessel is considered lost at sea since Feb 23, 2010.

As for Ecoterra International, the captors are based somewhere around Gara?ad, pirate den at the Indian Ocean coast. According to AFP, in 2009 Somali pirates had received about $60 mln ransom. As of Feb 2010, at least nine vessels with somewhat 200 sailors are held hostage.

Currently, several warships from various countries are deployed at the Gulf of Aden protecting merchant shipping from pirates. Russia is represented in international anti-piracy operation by BF frigate Neustrashimy.
