9 Somali pirates denied their guilt at a trial in Norfolk, Virginia this Friday. Their attorneys claim that their clients had too little time to get acquainted with the charges. Besides, neither of the pirates speaks English, that makes the inquest more complicated. The pirates were detained on March 31 by American mariners. The decision to send pirates detained by US seamen to the US has been taken in Washington after long-time world-wide debates about what is to be done with such detainees and whether a special international court should be created to trial them.
