Fragments of torpedo screw propellers have been found in the area where the South Korean frigate Cheonan sank close to the line of delimitation with North Korea. According to the Seoul-based newspapers, the fragments were discovered when fishing trawls were used to explore the seabed. The press quotes a government source as saying that an analysis of the fragments has shown that the torpedo could have been manufactured in China or in some Warsaw Pact country. Officials in Seoul believe that this information confirms the lead that the corvette Cheonan was destroyed as a result of an attack from North Korea. The ship sank in the Yellow Sea following a powerful explosion under its bottom on March 26th this year. 46 seamen died. Seoul says it will report the final results of the investigation this coming Thursday.
