South Korean President suspends trade with North Korea
24.05.2010
President Lee Myung-bak of South Korea said Monday that his country had suspended trade with the Democratic People's Republic of Korea. He also warned that Seoul would not hesitate to use its right to self-defence if Pyongyang went on with provocations. The statement comes as a reaction to the inquiry into the sinking of the South Korean warship Cheonan. The ship blew up and sank in the Yellow Sea on March 26th. 46 sailors died. Last week the investigative commission in Seoul said in an official statement that Cheonan was destroyed by a North Korean submarine torpedo.
