Inspectors recommended Sevmash to speed up modernization of INS Vikramaditya

An inspection headed by Anatoly Tiukov, Vice President of United Shipbuilding Corporation (USC) arrived to Sevmash shipyard.

The meetings were attended by representatives of USC (Vladimir Belukov, the head of foreign economic activity department, and Anatoly Shlemov, the head of state defense order department), delegates from FSUE Rosoboronexport, Russian Ministry of Trade and Industry, JSC Nevskoye Design Bureau, Ministry of Defense, and other organizations. The topical issue was the progress of works on nuclear submarines Yury Dolgoruky, Alexander Nevsky, Severodvinsk, and Vladimir Monomakh. According to Nikolai Kalistratov, Sevmash Director General, serious orders are on front-line; the yard has to execute them in time. Upon results of the inspection, work progress schedules will be presented to Vladimir Vysotsky, Navy Commander-in-Chief.

In addition, the matter of INS Vikramaditya which is being repaired and upgraded by the shipyard was also discussed. The panel concluded that Sevmash should speed up works on this order to implement all obligations in time. The yard was also told to resolve problems with partner companies promptly.
