Rear Admiral Riabukhin became chief of Pacific Fleet HQ
09/16/2010Andrei Riabukhin has spent the last day as commander of Belomorskaya Naval Base Commander, reports the Central Navy Portal. He started his service on Project 667B nuclear ballistic missile submarine; till appointed Belomorskaya Naval Base Commander in 2008 he served as 31st SSBN division commander.
Aside from other merits, the competent and esteemed admiral is known for his ice-hole swimming in the North Pole which was filmed by Rossiya TV channel during the cruise of SSBN K-84 Yekaterinburg in 2006 when the sub commanded by Capt 1 rank Sergei Rachuk (cruise commander – A. Riabukhin) launched ballistic missiles from the North Pole. That was made for the first time in 12 years.
