Sea phase of BF exercise is over

Baltic Fleet (BF) warships participated in final exercise of summer training period have returned to BF main naval base Baltiysk on Oct 1.

The drills were held under auspices of BF Deputy Commander. Totally, about 20 warships and auxiliary vessels were involved in the exercise.

BF frigates Yaroslav Mudry and Pylky (Capt 2 rank Anton Shishkarev and Capt 2 rank Alexander Yush) successfully performed antiaircraft firings having repelled missile attack of missile boat R-129 (Capt 3 rank Georgy Motuzenko) in severe weather conditions and heavy sea disturbance. R-129 launched 3 antiship missiles; the frigates launched 2 antiaircraft missiles each.

The crews practiced sea-battle drills, carried out firings upon sea and aerial targets, and conducted a number of shipborne drills – electronic warfare, damage control, anti-terror, and sailing through narrows.

Upon termination of the final exercise, BF Commander VADM Viktor Kravchuk expressed gratitude to the crews and particularly to missilemen for successful accomplishment of the training tasks.
