Russian-built Svetlyak patrol ship to be delivered to Slovenia in 2010

Project 10412 Svetlyak patrol ship built for Slovenia will be delivered to the orderer till the current year is over; the ship is completing trials program now, reported ARMS-TASS from Interpolitekh-2010 exhibition, Moscow.

The shipbuilding contract was tied in July 2008 with Slovenia; In Sept 2008 the ship was laid down at Almaz Shipyard (St. Petersburg); in July 2010 Svetlyak was launched.

Patrol ship Svetlyak was developed by Almaz Central Design Bureau for Marine Engineering. Load displacement of the ship makes 365 tons; length is 49.5 meters; beam is 9.2 meters; draft is 2.4 meters; max speed is 31 knot; endurance is 10 days; navigability is up to force 7.

It is the first Russian-built Project 10412 ship powered by German engine MTU under Slovenia's technical specifications.

Svetlyak class ships are in demand at world market. For instance, in 2002 two Project 10412 ships were built under Vietnam's order. They are well seaworthy and capable to sail while force 7 disturbance. Their speed is about 30 knots. Arms include gun mount and antiaircraft machineguns. The crew is 28.

Having assessed operation of Project 10412 ships, Vietnamese defense ministry made additional order for 4 Svetlyaks.

In 2009 two Project 10412 patrol ships were laid down at Almaz Shipyard (St. Petersburg), other two – at Vostochnaya Verf shipyard (Vladivostok).
