Russian defense ministry addressed to the President with recommendation to award 19-year old Aldar Tsydenzhapov with the Hero of Russia title; the sailor died while fire extinguishing at Pacific Fleet (PF) destroyer Bystry in Sept, reported RIA Novosti citing a spokesman for Governor of Zabaikalsky Krai.

Late Sept an accident occurred at PF destroyer Bystry; the fuel spilled and ignited. Watchmen rapidly neutralized the fire, although five sailors suffered and were hospitalized. One of them was Aldar Tsydenzhapov who died of injuries. Governor, legislative assembly, and public chamber of the sailor's native region addressed to defense ministry with request to title Tsydenzhapov Hero of Russia.

It was noted in the governor's letter that being almost completely burnt, Aldar Tsydenzhapov managed to shut off fuel feed pipe in machinery compartment and got out it only when flame was extinguished.

"Defense minister Anatoly Serdiukov addressed a letter to the governor reporting that in Oct the ministry recommended the President to reward (posthumously) Aldar Tsydenzhapov with the Hero of Russia title", said the interviewee.

According to him, three other sailors who displayed heroism, courage, and dedication while the firefighting were also put forward for decorations.
