Primorsky Krai Military procuracy carries out an inquiry into attempted suicide; a young lieutenant serving on Pacific Fleet (PF) large landing ship Nikolai Vilkov fired a pistol at himself. The sufferer was hospitalized with heavy wound in the head, reported RIA Novosti citing PF spokesman Roman Martov who did not specified the inquiry initiation date.

"PF Military Procuracy conducts investigation of the fact that 21-year old Maksim Kuropatkin was head-wounded. He was found unconscious in PF large landing ship Nikolai Vilkov on Dec 1", said the interviewee.

According to him, the officer is presently hospitalized in emergency health condition. Doctors do whatever possible to save his life.

"As for the procuracy, Kuropatkin tried to commit suicide in consequence of mental affection caused by family problems. In this connection, it was decided not to initiate a criminal case", pointed out the interviewee.

The procuracy inquiry goes on; all circumstances are being investigated.

Young officer from PF flagship Guard missile cruiser Varyag also committed suicide in November. Ivan Egorov was found hanged in the staircase of his house in the night of Nov 19. Military investigators concluded that was a suicide.
