Russian-Indian company BrahMos Aerospace signed new contracts for BrahMos cruise missiles till 2017. Those contracts provide delivery of missiles to three Indian armed components – Air Force, Navy, and Army, reports ARMS-TASS referring to Alexander Leonov, the head of defense industrial corporation NPO Mashinostroyenie.

Leonov did not specify cost of the contracts, although underlined that the orders "will last till 2017 and provide delivery of significant number of supersonic cruise missiles BrahMos". Leonov also underlined that submarine version of BrahMos missile is almost complete. "If Indian party would purchase new Russian non-nuclear subs, Rubin design bureau has already prepared options to arm them with underwater-launched BrahMos missiles", he said. As was previously reported, India is about to buy six non-nuclear submarines and to invite world's submarine manufacturers to compete Indian Navy's tender for conventional subs. Rosoboronexport announced its intention to participate in this tender with Amur-1650 developed by Rubin design bureau (St. Petersburg).

Earlier on, Federal Service for Military Technical Cooperation (FSMTC) awarded the staff of NPO Mashinostroyenie headed by A. Leonov with the third "Golden Idea Trophy" in the nomination named "For contribution to development of defense products"; other awardees were JSC Mashinostroitel (Perm), JSC PO Strela, and BrahMos Aerospace headed by Dr. Pillai for development of export-oriented missile system based on Russian-Indian antiship missile BrahMos.
