Keel-laying ceremony of the first Project 11356 frigate for Russian Navy will be held on Dec 18 at JSC Yantar Shipyard (member of Western Shipbuilding Center). New ship will be named Admiral Grigorovich.

Yantar shipyard to lay down frigate for Russian Navy

Yantar won Russian defense ministry's tender for three Project 11356 escort ships (frigates) on Oct 8, 2010. The contract was signed on Oct 28. Period of the contract execution is 4 years. This is the first order for a series of warships in the Russian Navy's contemporary history.
Project 11356 escort ship (frigate) is developed by JSC Severnoye Design Bureau. Ship of this project is designed for antiship and antisubmarine actions in sea and ocean zones; repelling aerial attacks both independently and within a task force as an escort ship. At present, Yantar successfully executes the Indian Navy's order for three frigates of this project.
