Four servicemen of a Pacific Fleet (PF) military unit deployed in Kamchatka were conditionally sentenced for stealing of lubricants to the amount of over RUR 844 000, reported Pacific Fleet FSB Dept not specifying the verdict date.

"Initiator and leader of the criminal group was Maj. Andrei Krotov, chief engineer of a PF military unit deployed in Kamchatka", said the release. Airfield maintenance company commander Maj. Alexei Podgorny, his deputy Capt. Kirill Vlaschuk and warrant officer Sergei Vasilko were also involved in the crime.

By order of Krotov, his associates wrote off lubricants entering false information into registers. Afterwards, they stole fuel. The damage caused was RUR 844 700.

All accused persons admitted their guilt. Taking into account this and other attenuating circumstances, the court martial gave them a chance to reform without imprisonment, said the press release.

Krotov was adjudged an initiator of the criminal group and conditionally sentenced for 5.5 years. Podgorny, Vlaschuk and Vasilko were find guilty of crimes specified in cl. 160/4 (stealing of property), and cl. 292 (falsification) of Russian Criminal Code. The court also sentenced them conditionally for different terms.

The court martial sustained a civil claim of Pacific Fleet Command to make Krotov repay the property damages.
