Enrollment in military institutions will be resumed in two years although in smaller scales, said Russian president Dmitry Medvedev.

On the threshold of training year defense ministry declared that military educational institutions would not enroll cadets. This decision is reasoned by the fact that the current educational system disagrees with reality, and amount of officers graduating from military academies is 4-5 times bigger than required number. In this context, new standards of military education are being developed.

Till now it has not been officially announced when enrollment would be resumed.

"Now the ministry takes a 2-ear timeout. As soon as this period is over, we will continue to enroll cadets but in smaller numbers. We should base on actual size of the armed forces", said Medvedev in TV show summarizing results of the year.

He pointed out that Russian Armed Forces will correspond to its missions, territory and population of the country.
