International Maritime Defense Show (IMDS) which will be held in St. Petersburg in summer will host over 330 participants from 91 countries, reported Thursday press service of the city administration.

International Maritime Defense Show is one of the world's leading exhibitions in the area of shipbuilding and naval arms; it is held in St. Petersburg once in two years. Traditionally, it takes place in Lenexpo Exhibition Complex. This year the show will be conducted in June 29 – July 3.

"This event is very important not only for our city but for the whole country. Apparently, IMDS has won popularity all across the world. It demonstrates capabilities of Russian shipbuilding industry, and gives it substantial support as well", said St. Petersburg Governor Valentina Matvienko at the preparatory meeting.

Apart from scientific conferences and meetings, there will be a display of Russian and foreign warships. An air show of naval aviation will be conducted over the Gulf of Finland.
