Russian president Dmitry Medvedev admonished Russian politicians for vehement statements about situation in Libya which can lead to "clash of civilizations", and called to be extremely careful in their estimates.

"We proceed from the assertion that any resolutions adopted by the UN Security Council are focused on peace-building, termination of civil strife, non-escalation of the conflict, and prevention of fatalities among non-combatants", said the president appearing at the press conference in Gorki residency.

Medvedev affirmed once again that Russian Armed Forces would not participate in anti-Libyan military operation and called members of the coalition to "use force proportionally" in order to avoid victims among peaceful populace.
