Security and stability in the Black Sea should be maintained by regional navies, concluded Russian and Turkish naval commanders Admiral Vladimir Vysotsky and Admiral Emin Murat Bilgel summarizing the Monday's meeting in Moscow.

"The parties discussed common issues of security in the Black Sea, emphasizing the fact that regional stability is a matter of joint efforts of Black Sea states' navies and a result of mutual understanding between them", said a spokesman for Russian Navy.

According to him, the naval commanders discussed effectiveness of international exercises held by BLACKSEAFOR joint task group and further growing role of this force in response on new threats at sea. Also, the parties talked over activities associated with 10th anniversary of BLACKSEAFOR group to be conducted early Apr in Turkey.
