Servicemen and veterans of Black Sea Fleet (BSF) leading unit – 30th Surface Ship Division – got together near monument to Black Sea Squadron despite heavy rain. They celebrated 42nd anniversary of this unique division.

Through these 42 years Black Sea mariners has passed glorious path demonstrating Soviet naval ensign and St. Andrew's flag all across the globe. Today, in difficult times for Russian Navy, the division continues to perform various tasks in accordance with old traditions. This is proved by trans-ocean cruise of BSF flagship Guard missile cruiser Moskva to Vladivostok and participation in Vostok-2010 exercise, release of cargo ship Arctic Sea from pirate captivity by BSF frigate Ladny, conducting of long-range cruises and exercises.

Participated in the meeting BSF Deputy Commander for Personnel Affairs Capt 1 rank Yury Orekhovsky, division commander Capt 1 rank Igor Smolyak, his predecessor Rear Admiral Alexander Kovshar, and chairman of veterans council Rear Admiral Nikolai Mikhalchenko spoke about continuity of traditions and importance of increasing glorious deeds of Black Sea Squadron/Division. Archpriest Sergiy also delivered solemn speech to BSF mariners. Wreath and flowers were laid at the monument; crews of the division's ships paraded afterwards. Then the concert was given in Sevastopol Naval Officers' Club.

People say rain accompanies beginning of good deeds. Forty two is not a jubilee, but this day is significant for BSF Surface Ship Division which is ready to accomplish any task given by Russian Navy's Distant Zone Command.
