Dry cargo ship MV Beluga Nomination was released from pirates' captivity and heads for Kenyan port Mombasa; one of the crewmen is Russian Dmitry Gudkov, resident of Kaliningrad.

Last Wednesday the crew and a shipmaster took the vessel under control and are heading for Kenyan coast. Second engineer Dmitry Gudkov feels well. The Kaliningrad sailor was expected to be in Mombasa port till Apr 17 and then return to Kaliningrad with assistance of Russian diplomatic mission, reports ITAR-TASS.

On Jan 22, 2011 multipurpose dry cargo ship Beluga Nomination was captured by Somali pirates 390 miles off Seychelles. The crew consisted of 12 sailors – two Russians, two Ukrainians, seven Filipinos, and a Pole.

During the capture, two crewmembers including Russian chief engineer, native of St. Petersburg were killed in attempting to escape. Other two sailors managed to do that and on Jan 29 were picked up by Danish warship Esbern Snare participating in NATO's anti-piracy operation Ocean Shield held near Somali.
