Russian coast guard to hoist flag on new patrol craft

Solemn flag-hoisting ceremony will be held on Apr 29 at Almaz shipyard (St. Petersburg); Project 22120 patrol craft will join Russian FSB Frontier Service.

The ceremony will be attended by officials from Russian FSB Frontier Service (St. Petersburg branch), representatives of the city administration, leadership of Almaz shipyard and Petrobalt design bureau.

The patrol ship was built by JSC Almaz Shipyard for frontier security authorities; it is an up-to-date vessel designed for protection of Russia's living marine resources in territorial waters, exclusive economic zone, and continental shelf.

Designing and construction of the ship were realized under the concept providing FSB coast guard with modern multifunctional fleet with improved endurance, operational range, speed, and living conditions.

Basic characteristics of Project 22120 patrol craft:

displacement – about 1,100 tons
max speed – 20 knots
cruise speed – 14 knots
operational range – up to 4,000 nm
navigability – not limited
endurance – 20 days
lifetime – 30 years
crew – 25 men
