Russia's Black Sea Fleet (BSF) task unit consisting of diesel submarine Alrosa, salvage tug Shakhter, mooring lighter KIL-158 and rescue ship Epron arrived in Cartagena port (Spain) on May 25 to participate in NATO's international submarine salvage exercise Bold Monarch-2011 which is to be held since May 30 till June 9.

Ships, aviation, and submarines of 20 NATO countries (including the US, Great Britain, Spain, Italy, Netherlands, Portugal, France, Norway, Greece and Turkey) will take part in the exercise as well.

On board mooring lighter KIL-158 there is a newest airmobile search-and-rescue system Panther Plus which is in inventory of Russian Navy's rescue service.

The cruise headquarters is on board rescue ship Epron.

According to Russian Navy command, the sea rescue issues are common for all navies worldwide. Elaboration of unified approach to rescue operations and exchange of experience will help to act more effectively in case of emergencies happened to surface ships and submarines at sea.
