Pacific Fleet (PF) hydrographic vessel detected an underwater object in Shelikhov Bay (Sea of Okhotsk) resembling trawler Ametist lost in Feb, reports REGNUM referring to regional minister of special programs Sergei Khabarov.

The 45x9-meter large underwater object was found 11 km away from the trawler's last positioning point at the depth of 245 meters. "Hydrographic vessel GS-296 is at the end of her seabed-scanning capabilities. Kamchatka Governor Vladimir Ilyukhin is about to address to PF command with request to dispatch a vessel having special deep-sea exploration equipment", Khabarov said.

Trawler Ametist lost in the Sea of Okhotsk on Feb 11. Helicopters, aircrafts, and fishing vessels worked in the region were involved and managed to find two inflatable life rafts and eight crab trap buoys throughout the search activities. Since March 1 active search was suspended, although there were 4 additional helicopter flights and coastal search activities arranged at request of the crewmen's relatives.
