Nuclear-powered ballistic missile submarine (SSBN) Yury Dolgoruky built by Sevmash shipyard in Severodvinsk sailed off for sea trials.

This is the first sea cruise of the sub in this year, reported ITAR-TASS on June 7 referring to the shipyard's press service. The submarine has been staying in the covered slipway since the last navigation season preparing for final phase of state sea trials. "Yury Dolgoruky will be delivered to the Navy in the nearest months", said Sevmash's press service.

SSBN Yury Dolgoruky is the lead submarine of 4th generation Project 955 Borei; she was laid down at Sevmash in 1996 and launched for further outfitting in Apr 2007. The sub will be commissioned along with new submarine-launched ballistic missile (SLBM) Bulava which passes trials as well.
