Deep-water manned submersible Consul built by JSC Admiralteyskie Verfi for Russian Navy has successfully passed trials in the Atlantic, reports the shipyard's press service.

During the trials Consul dived at the depth of 6,000 meters and completed a number of technological tasks. When the state trials are over, the submersible will be delivered to the orderer.

Dozens of Russian institutes and factories took part in the submersible creation. For instance, the project was developed by the Malakhit maritime design bureau (St. Petersburg). The hull is made of high-tensile titanium alloy specially designed by the Prometei scientific research institute of construction materials. It is 100-mm thick titanium alloy produced by JSC Corporation VSMPO-AVISMA.

Estimated service life of the submersible is 20 years.
