China opens a luxury hotel which originally is refitted ex-Soviet aircraft carrier Kiev. According to South China Morning Post, EUR 9.6 mln was spent to refit the ship.

Since 2004 the ship was a part of military-oriented theme park in Tianjin; there were models of combat aircraft on the ship's deck. "Previously, China had no aircraft carriers, and people find them mysterious and curious objects. Although the first Chinese carrier has started sea trials, public will be unlikely allowed to board it. So, people can visit Kiev to satisfy their curiosity", says marketing manager Liu Chang.

Designers shifted from standard navy-style decorations towards more luxury materials. Each suit is furnished with a huge circle bed, silver curtains, and a carpet on the floor. The interior design means that the visitors would be wealthy people. However, prices have not been set so far.
