Second construction phase of unique offshore ice-resistant fixed platform Prirazlomnaya has been finished; the platform leaves Murmansk. The solemn meeting was arranged at 35th Ship Repair Plant.

The platform was transferred to 35th Ship Repair Plant in Nov 2010 after construction phase in Severodvinsk. Enormous scope of work has been done in Murmansk through 9 months – concrete ballasting, precommission operations, etc. "On percentage, the platform is 94.2% ready, but there are still much to do with cable connection, adjustment works and so", comments Valery Borodin, Deputy Director General of Sevmash shipyard. "We have completed basic life support systems, i.e. made the platform habitable".

"Today we have finished a very important stage in the platform construction process", said Director General of Sevmash Andrei Dyachkov. "This day is equally significant for the shipyard staff, designers, and the orderer. Thanks to our joint dedicated work, we have achieved such good result", he concluded. "We have passed steep and toilsome ways, but finally constructed this unique asset", said Alexander Mandel, Director General of JSC Gazprom Oil Shelf which is the platform's orderer. "And the most important thing is that Russian shipbuilding industry has acquired wide experience which will be undoubtedly in demand", added the orderer.

In the nearest term Prirazlomnaya platform will head for the same-named oil field in Pechora Bay to extract oil for at least 25 years in severe climatic conditions at temperatures up to -50C.

As is planned, transportation of the platform would take somewhat 10 days, and if weather conditions are favorable it would reach the site. According to the orderer's plans, Prirazlomnaya platform would start to produce oil in the first quarter of 2012.
