Warships of Black Sea Fleet (BSF) have successfully performed missile firing at air targets, reported Capt Vyacheslav Trukhachev, press secretary of BSF Commander on Aug 29.

"At the closing stage of tactical exercise directed by BSF Commander Rear Admiral Alexander Fedotenkov, Guard missile cruiser Moskva and frigate Pytlivy have effectively carried out air target missile practice", Trukhachev said.

Missile targets were launched from Caucasus coast by Coastal Missile/Artillery Brigade of Novorossiysk Naval Base, said the BSF spokesman.

In accordance with the exercise plan, ships, aviation, and coastal units of the two task groups have performed about 50 combat drills.

Among practiced drills were piloting ships behind sweeps, joint maneuvering, single and cooperative gun firing at visual coastal targets, antiaircraft defense of task force with missile and gun firings at air targets, and jamming. Mock landing attack with the fleet's assault and transport aviation involved was held as well.
