Financing of Russian Navy's modernization within the State Arms Program 2011-2020 will be RUR 4.7 trillions, said Russian Prime minister and leader of United Russia Party Vladimir Putin at the party's interregional conference held in Cherepovets on Sept 5.

"The goal is to create up-to-date fleet capable to accomplish the whole range of missions – from nuclear deterrence and presence overseas to protection of our economic interests and Russian bioresources", Putin said.

He reminded that last year Sevmash shipyard had launched 4th generation submarines SSBN Alexander Nevsky and SSN Severodvinsk. "Nuclear-powered ballistic missile submarine SSBN Yury Dolgoruky effectively passes trials. This sub is to be delivered to Pacific Fleet no later than in this year", said the premier adding that SSBN Vladimir Monomakh and SSN Kazan were under construction as well as series of frigates and corvettes.
