Northern Fleet Frogmen Held Drill

During the drill, divers were improving their knowledge and practical skills of underwater operations. They were trained by instructors of NF Engineer Service.
NF divers practiced filling of simulated inexplosive charges with real igniters. All works were conducted with observance of all due safety precautions.
Frogmen may face various tasks both in war and peacetime, beginning from destruction of different underwater objects including unexploded air bombs, shells, and mines, and ending with bottom clearance, for instance, mouths of large rivers which waters bring heaps of garbage hindering navigation.
In Aug 2011, NF frogmen searched and exploded underwater objects remained since WW2 near Obskaya Harbor. They worked in severe wind and current conditions, underwater visibility was extremely low. Ooze layer on the bottom was several meters thick, and divers had to work in marsh conditions. In total, they had detected and destroyed dozens of underwater objects, and performed the task excellently.
