Russian-Ukrainian Yacht To Fly St. Andrew's Flag Worldwide

The cruise will last 2.5 years, and yachtsmen are to cover about 70,000 nautical miles. They plan to return to Sevastopol in Jan 2014, and reach the final destination – Sochi – in March 2014. The crew headed by shipmaster and expedition commander Sergei Nizovtsev consists of four Russians and four Ukrainians. Participants of the international expedition are about to conduct environmental researches and film several documentaries.
The farewell ceremony held at Sevastopol seaport passenger terminal was attended by the city officials, servicemen of Russian Black Sea Fleet (BSF) and Ukrainian Navy, and military bands of the two navies.
BSF Deputy Chief of Staff Capt 1 rank Yury Zemsky handed over the St. Andrew's Flag to the yacht's crew; the Russian Navy's ensign will accompany the yachtsmen during the expedition.
Sergei Nizovtsev thanked BSF command for attention, assistance, and support in preparations for the long-range cruise.
