Defense industry modernization program will be adopted in the nearest time, said Russian Prime Minister Vladimir Putin. "It will be enacted very soon", promised Putin on Dec 6 meeting with regional leaders.

The premier confirmed the information that RUR 3 trillions would be appropriated for defense industry.

"The money has been already entered into the 3-year budget", he said.

According to him, the governmental commission, defense ministry, Ministry of trade and Industry, and other authorities are working on the program now.

"Those funds should be channeled to the companies producing up-to-date arms. Not just competitive [arms] but those really ensuring maintenance of national security", Putin said.
