Russian Navy to Attend RIMPAC 2012 Exercise

International naval exercise RIMPAC 2012 will take place near Hawaii since June 29 till Aug 7, 2012 comprising naval forces of Asian-Pacific regional countries.

Russia will be represented by destroyer Bystry, a rescue tug and a tanker.

The exercise will be also attended by warships from Australia, India, Indonesia, Canada, Colombia, Republic of Korea, Malaysia, Peru, Singapore, the US, Tonga, and Japan. Six submarines, 39 warships, up to 200 aircraft, and about 1,200 marines will be involved in the maneuvers.

It is planned that each participating country would delegate 2 observers and 2 staff officers to the exercise headquarters.

Final planning conference will be held on Hawaii in Apr 16-20, 2012.
