Firefighter Died in Explosion at Murmansk Shipyard

Four firefighters were injured and one died on Jan 17 when extinguishing fire at Murmansk shipyard, reports REGNUM referring to EMERCOM, Murmansk Dept.

Duty officer received fire call at 10.16 am. The fire was brought under control at 10.26 pm, and at 10.27 pm an oxygen cylinder exploded during fire extinguishing operations.

Four specialists of 2nd Fire Dept suffered from the explosion, and 27-year old firefighter Gennady Zhukov died. One sufferer was hospitalized in heavy health status; three others received first aid in emergency station.

Circumstances of the fire are being investigated.
