In the current year, volume of works on state defense order placed at Nerpa ship-repair plant (affiliate of JSC Zvezdochka Ship Repair Center, Polyarny) will grow up almost twice, reports the yard's press service.

Nerpa Shipyard to Increase Defense Order Volume in 2012

In 2012, the yard is to complete technical recovery of three multipurpose nuclear-powered submarines – Project 945A SSN Pskov, Project 671RTMK SSN Obninsk and SSN Tambov.
Other two nuc subs are expected to arrive in the yard for analogous works till the year is over.
Repairs of surface warships are going on as well. For one, seagoing minesweeper Vladimir Gumanenko laid up for damage repair late in Oct 2011 has passed troubleshooting which revealed the need for additional hull maintenance. The shipyard's repairmen exert every effort to complete elimination of all damages in the next month and return the ship to Northern Fleet's operational force.
Plenty of work left to do for timely execution of the contract tied with Rosatom state nuclear energy corporation. According to schedule, launching date of seagoing dry cargo ship Yauza repaired and modernized under Project 550M is late March or early April. New task for the ship will be transportation of spent nuclear fuel.
Another mission of the Nerpa Shipyard is joining of sections of the first Soviet nuclear-powered submarine B-3 Leninsky Komsomol and putting her afloat. Plans to refit the sub into a museum are still actual, although their realization goes slow due to lack of financing.
