Pacific Fleet Mariners to Visit Philippines First in 96 Years

Pacific Fleet (PF) task unit headed by Capt 1 rank Andrei Saprykin and consisting of large ASW ship Admiral Panteleyev, tanker Boris Butoma, and salvage tug Fotiy Krylov on Jan 31 arrives in Manila, Philippines, PF press secretary Capt 1 rank Roman Martov told Central Navy Portal.

That visit will be the first call of PF warships at Philippines since the recent 96 years.

After moorage, the unit command will discuss issues of supply replenishment and crew leisure. For that purpose, large ASW ship Admiral Panteleyev will be visited by representatives of Philippines Navy, Russian ambassador and military attaché.

Later on that day, Russian Navy's official delegation will pay protocol visits to Philippines naval commander and chief of the national coast guard.

In 2010, flagship of Black Sea Fleet (BSF) Guard missile cruiser Moskva visited Philippines twice; the ship was attending the Vostok 2010 large-scale maneuvers held at Russia's Far East.

Coming visit of the PF task unit will last till Feb 2.
