JSC Yantar Shipyard (Kaliningrad, Russia) has finished state trials of first frigate of the 3-ship series being built for Indian Navy, the yard's press secretary Sergei Mikhailov told RIA Novosti on Feb 7.

Yantar Shipyard Finished State Trials of Indian Frigate

At first, frigate INS Teg had passed mooring trials at the shipyard's quay; run-in test and adjustment works were performed then. State sea trials in the Baltic Sea started in Sept 2011. The ship returned to the yard from Baltiysk harbor on Feb 3.
Armament of frigate INS Teg includes BrahMos missile system having high accuracy and capable to hit targets at range up to 290 km.
Yantar has been constructing frigates (in Russian classification, escort ships) for Indian Navy since 2006.
The project was developed by Severnoye Design Bureau, a member of United Shipbuilding Corporation.
All three frigates – INS Teg, INS Tarkash, and INS Trikand – have been already launched. Project 11356 frigates are used for search and destruction of submarines, antiship/antiaircraft/antisubmarine defense. The ship's length is 125 meters; beam is 15 meters; displacement is 4,000 tons; operating range is 5,000 miles; crew is 220 men.
Yantar shipyard was registered as a joint stock company in 1996. It is specialized in construction of small- and mid-size warships and civil vessels, ship-repair works, production of maritime and commercial structures.
