Financing of repair, maintenance, and modernization works on Caspian Flotilla (CF) ships will be increased making about RUR 300 mln in 2012. That was discussed at the working conference of CF commanding staff with representatives of organizations providing repair and maintenance of CF ships. The conference took place in Astrakhan on Feb 25.

During the meeting, participants summarized results of ship-repair activities performed in 2011, discussed issues related to technical condition of the flotilla's ships, and determined works for 2012.

Possibilities for modernization of weapon systems, technical aids, navigational equipment, radioelectronics, life support systems of CF ships were also discussed at the conference.

In total, 55 surface ships of the flotilla have been repaired and modernized through 2011. The year-long contract was tied with Astrakhan Ship-repair Plant (affiliate of Zvezdochka); the plant has already started maintenance works on CF ships.
