Over 170 Defense Companies are Next Door to Bankruptcy

According to the Federal Tax Service, over 170 Russian strategic enterprises and defense-oriented organizations are eligible for bankruptcy, said a source in the Federation Council (upper chamber of Russian parliament).

"Defense industrial system includes strategic enterprises coming within provisions of the law "On Inconsistency (Bankruptcy)". Now bankruptcy proceedings are applied to 44 of them, and tax authorities issued decrees on debt collection upon property of 150 companies", said the source of Interfax.

He pointed out that in accordance with the information of the Federal Tax Service, 170 strategic enterprises were eligible for bankruptcy. "Many of them became debtors because of defense ministry's delays in payment for state defense order", explained the source.
