Final planning protocol of the Pomor-2012 Russian-Norwegian naval exercise was signed on Apr 12 on board Northern Fleet (NF) destroyer (large ASW ship) Admiral Levchenko.

Working group directors – Chief of NF Combat Training Dept Capt 1 rank Vladimir Vorobyov and Chief of Naval Operations at Norwegian National Joint HQ Capt Lars Saunes – endorsed the agreements by signatures.

The bilateral exercise will comprise a number of anti-terror episodes including joint counter-piracy and vessel-inspection drills with participation of marine units, maintaining of civil shipping, interception of fast-speed boats violating state borders, and search-and-rescue operations.

Plan of the coming exercise will also include joint maneuvering, gun firing drills at surface targets, antiaircraft activities, and searching of mock submarine.
Prior to the exercise, Norwegian frigate Fridtjof Nansen will call at NF main base Severomorsk. Norwegian mariners will attend the Victory Day Parade in the Hero City of Murmansk and other festive events associated with the victory in the Great Patriotic War.

Upon accomplishment of training tasks, NF destroyer Admiral Chabanenko will pay a return visit to Norwegian port of Bodo on the eve of the Norway's constitution day.
