In addition to production of shipborne equipment for submarine and surface ships, machine-building complex of JSC Sevmash shipyard increases output of industrial-use products, reports the yard's press service.

Number of contracts for industrial-use products continually grows, as well as volume and variety of products for interplant cooperation. Almost all Russian shipbuilding companies are clients of Sevmash.

The shipwrights of Sevmash produce the most complicated hardware for nuclear power industry assets. In particular, for Beloyarsk Nuclear Power Plant they manufactured special protective doors to seal reactor compartment apertures, ducts for standpipes in concrete vault, particular details and assembly units of driven rotary plugs for reactor plant BN-800.

For many years the yard produces various kinds of spent-fuel containers for Russian Navy's submarines, nuclear icebreaker fleet, and nuclear powerplants. Presently, Sevmash is completing the next lot of spent-fuel containers for Leningrad Nuclear Power Plant. This work is of the shipyard's interest, since it gives work even if primary production is not fully loaded.

Thanks to availability of all required licenses and production capacities, wide experience and authorized competent employees, Sevmash plans to develop this line of activity and attracts new clients. For one, designers, production engineers, and experts of welding department are studying production possibility of experimental fast neutron reactor block. Another direction is joint work with Institute of Nuclear Physics (Sarov). Partners discuss designing and further manufacturing of new vacuum chamber which is a quite sophisticated item.

In 2011, the shipyard's hull-blanking and hull-assembly shops started to build metal structures for moving platforms of railway cranes with lifting capacity of 150 tons. The contract for radar platforms was recently tied as well.
