United Shipbuilding Corporation (USC) confirmed that the contracts for designing and construction of Project 955A Borei-A nuclear-powered strategic submarines were signed as a result of meeting held by president Putin and in accordance with his tasks, reports USC press service.

In total, defense ministry signed three contracts. The first one - with Rubin Central Design Bureau for designing of the modernized Project 955A Borei-A lead submarine; the second one – with JSC Sevmash shipyard for her construction; and the third one – with United Shipbuilding Corporation for batch construction of Project 955A Borei-A submarines.

All prices and terms of works are in line with the State Arms Procurement Program.

Signing of those contracts makes possible for Russia to deploy a force of up-to-date strategic submarines at the time set by the president, reliably guarantee national security, and provide workload and modernization for defense-oriented industry.

JSC United Shipbuilding Corporation is the Russia's largest shipbuilding company. It was established by presidential decree in 2007; 100% shares is in federal ownership. The holding comprises over 50 companies and organizations of shipbuilding industry (largest shipyards and ship-repair plants, leading design bureaus). Presently, the corporation consolidates about 70% of national shipbuilding sector. Although the company is oriented on Russian market, it exports production to 20 countries.
