Memorial sign to the crew of known nuclear-powered submarine Kursk was opened in the city of Tver, Russia by initiative of local naval veterans.

The sign was mounted next to the St. John the Soldier Chapel. An idea to establish the sign started up two years ago during consecration of the chapel.

Founding of the memorial sign in honor of the SSN Kursk crew heroically died on duty were Capt (retired) Alexander Komissarov, chairman of Tver regional union of naval veterans, and Senior Warrant Officer Oleg Postovik, rescuer at Russian Navy's SR Service who used to serve in SSN Kursk before, reports Tver EMERCOM Department.

Similar memorial signs were earlier established in Murmansk, Severodvinsk, Moscow, and Odessa. Also, memorials to the SSN Kursk crew were opened at cemeteries of St. Petersburg, Kursk, Nizhny Novgorod, Sevastopol, and Zaozersk.
